Brief history of Spearhead Studios

Spearhead Studios came about following Gaming Innovation closing its GIG game studio. Having already developed a small collection of slots and table games, the GiG team decided to create their own studio, led by industry veteran Mathias Larsson. 

Launched in late 2019, Spearhead Studios began releasing slots at a prolific rate. Early games under the Spearhead banner included Wilds of Wall Street, Lara Jones, Eternal Shogi and Pirates of the Mediterranean. All of these were released in April 2020 with Wilds of Wall Street debuting at ICE London. 

Another 13 followed that year, among them Wilds of Wall Street 2, Giant Panda and hit game, Pirates of the Mediterranean, with another 18 Spearhead slot games released in 2021. Other noteworthy releases include the first Spearhead Studios branded slot, John Daly Spin It And Win It, as well as the successful Book of Souls game. 

This flurry of creative activity has been accompanied by a sustained campaign of strategic deal-making that has secured massive exposure for Spearhead’s library of games. Major distribution deals have been struck for Microgaming Canada, Relax Gaming, ORYX, Fusion and Flow Gaming, to name but a few. 

In addition, the studio has been helped by some clever regulatory maneuverings.
