Wazdan acquires supplier license from AGCO

by Ralph Trayfalgar Updated:

Malta-based casino game developer Wazdan has been granted an operator license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), making it one of the latest firms to receive such a license in the newly-regulated market.

In April 2022, the AGCO led Canada in a landmark move to establish a regulated iGaming market in Ontario. This has opened the province’s doors to the private gambling sector that had previously operated in a grey area of the law.

Wazdan now operates in a total of 20 regulated markets throughout the world, including Malta, the UK, and the United States. Following the acquisition of the new license, Wazdan’s titles may now be hosted by online casinos that are also licensed to operate in the province.

“We’re hugely excited to be a part of this newly regulated iGaming market,” said Wazdan CEO Michal Imiolek. “Ontario promises to be one of the biggest markets in North America and this move adds massively to our growing foothold in the region.”

Imiolek stated that already-licensed businesses in Ontario would gain from their exposure to the gaming industry. Wazdan has been continuously expanding its online slots portfolio, with one of the most recent additions being Hot Slot 777 Crown, which was released earlier this year. The firm also formed a partnership with Scientific Games at the start of the year in order to expand their reach in the industry.
