by Ralph Trayfalgar Updated:

In an announcement on Friday, Penn Gaming’s theScore Bet has become an exclusive sponsor of the Toronto Blue Jays, designating it as the franchise’s Official Gaming Partner.

A Landmark Partnership

The 10-year sponsorship deal between theScore Bet and the Toronto Blue Jays marks the first major sports partnership in the country, and it is expected to bring baseball fans fresh and fun ways to experience their favourite ball game.

The landmark deal also makes theScore Bet the first sports betting company to become a gaming partner for Major League Baseball. The historic agreement was reached immediately after the Ontario regulated iGaming and sports betting industry was formally opened on April 4, and theScore Bet was granted approval to act as an agent for iGaming Ontario. The sports betting firm has also been certified by the Responsible Gaming Council.

Mark Shapiro, president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays, was especially pleased with the partnership, noting that “The fan experience is evolving, and this monumental partnership with theScore Bet provides compelling new ways for sports enthusiasts to be a part of the game."

“We are excited to be partnering with a Canadian company that operates at the highest level of the industry and understands our role in Toronto and Canada, to bring baseball to more fans nationwide.”

Exclusive Marketing Rights

In accordance with the terms of the sponsorship agreement, theScore Bet has been awarded exclusive marketing rights to the Blue Jays in the United States, including all gaming categories such as sports betting, ca casino, online casino, and fantasy sports betting.

The Blue Jays and theScore Bet will also collaborate to develop a branded, premium sports bar and restaurant at the Blue Jays' home stadium, Rogers Centre, that will be open year round and serve as an entertainment center and fan destination for Blue Jays fans.

In a statement on the sponsorship, theScore Bet CEO John Levy highlighted the shared Canadian heritage of the two organizations. He expressed his excitement at the prospect of collaborating with the Canadian baseball team in a "foundational partnership" with an organization "that is deeply embedded" in the country's sports culture.

“Teaming with the Blue Jays opens up exciting new exclusive marketing opportunities and brings theScore Bet even closer to a huge audience of passionate and engaged fans, both on-site at Rogers Centre and online across our platforms,” Levy said.

“With our combined loyal audiences and brand affinity in Ontario, we believe this deal will establish a new standard for team and gaming operator relationships as we pioneer innovative ways to experience and interact with the game.”

The partnership will also see theScore Bet and the Blue Jays deliver new and exclusive in-stadium and digital offerings to sports fans and bettors. These will include two premium seating sections on the baselines, in-stadium branding, in-game features, and team-related experiences, among other things.
