HRD Canada, one of the country's leading human resources management firms, has recognized the British Columbia Lottery Corporation for their efforts in diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DI&B).
The HRD Canada website named the BCLC a "5-star Diversity & Inclusion Employer," lauding the provincial gambling operator's efforts to establish and maintain an inclusive working environment.
"As a social-purpose company, we work to generate win-wins for the greater good, and fostering a more inclusive culture is an important part of how we do that for our people," said Sandy Austin, BCLC interim Chief People Officer.
"We are proud of what we have accomplished but acknowledge there is still progress to be made on our journey towards diversity, inclusion and belonging for all."
BCLC was the only Canadian organization to be recognized by HRD Canada in the category for organizations with 500 to 2,499 employees. Earlier in the year, the Canadian HR Reporter also recognized BCLC as a "Leading Diversity & Inclusion Employer"
The BCLC emphasized its goal of fostering "an environment free of discrimination and open to diverse perspectives, where all employees feel they are seen, heard and belong" in a statement on the award. In 2021, the Crown corporation enacted a new DI&B policy to enhance its commitments to "equity, inclusion, and anti-racism."
